“Facts,” said John Adams, a quite smart guy, “are stubborn things.” Not stubborn enough, apparently, to prevent the recent travesty of an election. Still, if Adams is right, it is useful to recognize that most basic facts have not in fact changed by virtue of the election. Whether Trump denies it or not, the realities of climate change, and the refugee crisis, and the demand of people for equal rights has not changed. Trump did not win a majority of the votes. And the facts will demand to be known. The fight has just begun.
